How To Instantly Elevate Any Meal

Want to know what makes those farm-to-table or five-start restaurants so damn good? Arguably the single most important differentiator between your home cooking and high-end restaurant? Fresh herbs.

I know. You must be thinking, ” We’ll that’s obvious, I use herbs in every meal”. I’m not talking about the dusty jars you keep in your cupboard – I’m talking about seasonal, radiant, freshly cut, herbs. Dried simply doesn’t cut it. Making a tuna salad? Add fresh dill. Frying up broccoli for dinner? Slice some mint and mix it into the dish just before serving. Serving up carrots? Sprinkle them with some fresh thyme. Want to jazz up your avocado toast? Add in basil. Baking potato wedges? Infuse them with rosemary.

This applies to drinks too. Try adding in a couple of mint leaves or basil to any single smoothy you make. Rosemary-infused water is the next level. Fresh mint in your lemonade. A stock of sage in your cocktail (or mocktail) will infuse and adds the nicest hint of flavor.

Alternatively, a bundle of organic dill, basil, or mint can be purchased for less than three dollars each.

As for my favorite option, growing them. You can buy an organic plant for as little as two dollars (though personally, I don’t have the patience – I purchase a matured plant so I could use it immediately.)

Bonus, Herbs are high in nutrients.

Not only are fresh herbs packed with favor, but they’re also high in nutritional content. Tyme for instance has …. basil has… this has and that has..
